Why not come on the Trans Siberian Railway ?

Instead of flying to Mongolia, you can arrive in Ulaanbaatar by train from Moscow or from Beijing.

Eastern Mongolia Motorcycle Trail

15 - 19 August 2017 only USD $1295

This is an amazing 3-day ride to Khentii province east of Ulaanbaatar, includes forested mountain passes, remote steppe and dramatic landscape. The journey begins riding along the Tuul river to Terelj National Park, then a little further to the gigantic silver statue of Genghis Khan on a horse. Beyond this we ride eastward into Khentii province and through a valley where it is believed that Genghis Khan established his original capital. It is also celebrated as the place where the book “Secret History of the Mongols” was written. Wooden bridges in various states of repair cross the Kherlen river and its tributaries and the route crosses some wild high steppe and passes by a few small lakes and villages before returning to Ulaanbaatar.

Terelj National Park

Terelj is a picturesque place of high cliffs eroded in granite of Mesozoic Age, creating a wonderful landscape of granite "tors". It is a national park covering an area of 2,864 square kilometers and has enjoyed State protection since 1993.

Genghis Khan

This is the largest horse statue in the world standing 40 meters high. The statue was built in 2008 on the banks of the Tuul river and faces eastwards towards Genghis Khan's birthplace. In the base is a museum, a restaurant, shops and a conference hall.

Secret History

This statue was built to commemorate the writing of the book "Secret History of the Mongols". On the sides of the column are the stamps of about 300 different clans who inhabited the area around the time of Genghis Khan.

Mineral Springs

At Avarga Toson there is a health resort for local people. The mud baths and mineral-rich lake have been used for centuries as a spa and the spring water is claimed to heal many different ailments, particularly nervous and venereal diseases.

The total riding distance is 600 kilometers, of which approximately 90% is off-road on rough jeep tracks. Most of the route is an area of Mongolia rarely visited by tourists and there is no formal accommodation so we will camp in tents and take all equipment, including a kitchen tent. Each night will be wild camping (tents provided) and support vehicles will carry the equipment and luggage. Support staff travel with us, including a cook to prepare the meals. Mostly the trail follows rough jeep tracks, but we do ride a little distance on tarmac.

KTM 450 Motorbike in Mongolia

Real dirt bike riders will already know that such a bike can readily meet the challenge. Its light weight, electronic and kick start capability, height and reliability, make it ideally suited to Mongolia's rough and remote location.

We have been running motorbike tours since 2005 and now have a total of 20 bikes including KTM 450 EXC bikes and Yamaha WR's. We gradually replace older bikes with newer models. For the first few years we were using Yamaha WR250 motorbikes. They were great - but now we've gone one better. We use KTM 450 EXC off-road enduro bikes for our scheduled motorbike trips in Mongolia. All our motorcycles are fully protected with the necessary frame guards, sump & engine guard, hand guards & radiator guards.

Motorcycle Tour Riding Safety

Above all else, safety is our most important concern and motorcycling is a dangerous activity.

We will be riding in remote areas far from good medical facilities. Therefore you must follow all our instructions with regard to protective clothing and safe riding. Our motorcycle tours in Mongolia are not suitable for beginners and the more experienced you are at off-road riding, the better you will enjoy the trip. Get in as much practice as you can before the tour and if necessary take some lessons. Understand that this is not a RACE or COMPETITION. See more information about safety issue click here: SECTION 13. Mongolia is a great country for off-road riding and our tours offer a wonderful opportunity to see the way of life of the nomadic people of Central Asia. To ensure the smooth running of our motorcycle tours everyone is obliged to follow these instructions and to abide by our tour leader.

About Bike Mongolia

Bike Mongolia is a family run business which has been operating since 1998. We started with mountain biking tours because the founder of the company was the Olympic trainer for the Mongolian National Cycling Team and several members of the team are former racing cyclists. In 2005 we expanded to include off-road motorcycling tours in Mongolia. We have offices in the UK and Germany staffed by locals & Mongolians who have done most of the trips themselves so they know everything about the tour logistics, routes, landscape, accommodation, etc..  We are a completely independent travel tour operator in Mongolia, not an agent or representative of any other company. In addition we have the best & most enthusiastic team who work efficiently together to create the best experience.
